Water Supply Services Quality Standards

We operate treatment plants with the goals to supply drinking water conforming to national standards with residual chlorine
parameters as:
Minimum: 0.20mg/l.
Maximum: 1.00mg/l.

 
     
  • Water Supply Services Quantity Standards

Our systems have been built to cater to:
130 litres of water per capita per day in Gangtok
90 litres per capita per day in other towns
70 litres per capita per day in Rural Marketing Centers
 
     
 

The above quantities of water shall be provide with adequate pressure head. Wherever adequate pressure heads is not available, we encourage consumers to make arrangements for static tank with domestic pumping.

 
 

During our leanest period, we guarantee water supply to suffice consumer needs everyday, in the morning (6a.m.-8a.m.) and in the evening (4p.m.-6p.m).

 
     
  Our obligations towards future growth  
 

We will continue to identify new water sources and plan to ensure that our infrastructure and system are developed to cater to the future projected growth.

 
  We are taking and will continue to take measure to protect the sources of water supply.  
  It is also our obligation to conserve water and reduce the unaccounted for loss of water caused by leakages during distribution.  
     
  Sewerage Services Standards  
  We will make very fort to minimise the possibility of a sewage spill due to overflow & blockages on residential property.  
 

It will be our endeavour to ensure that inconvenience and damage is minimized and that the affected area is cleaned up within in 24 hours.

 
 

For all property connected to the PHED sewer system the Department ensures a service that meets the needs or the discharge of residential sewage.

 
  We are augmenting our capacity and will expand our network to incorporate new areas.  
     
  Exceptions to the above only due to situations listed below.  
 

• When emergency or planned repairs of the water supply system are required.
• When emergence or planned repairs to the sewerage services are required.
• Due to events outside our control such as landslide, droughts, natural calamities
• When the services is discontinued for the customer falling to reasonably satisfy the co summers obligations associated with the provision of the connection

 
     
  Limiting services during interruptions  
 

Before undertaking any planned interruptions we will inform the consumers at least 24 hours in advance. Whenever we undertake such planned services interruption we will provide alternative drinking water within 24 hours.
