The Right To Information (RTI) Act, 2005 received the assent of the President of India on 15-06-2005. The Act extends to the whole of India except Jammu and Kashmir.

 
     
 

The key objectives of the Act is dissemination of information to facilitate members of the public to secure easy access to information under the control of public authorities in order to promote transparency and accountability and hold Governments and their instrumentalities accountable to the government as also to contain corruption.

 
     
  The manual aims to provide ready information for easy access and understanding by the public with regard to the organization and functions of the Water Security & Public health Engineering Department, Govt. of Sikkim, and contains 17 chapters as prescribed under the provisions of Section 4(1) (b) of the RTI Act 2005.  
     
  Request for obtaining additional information not available in this Book may be made to the SPIO/WSPHED in form "A" accompanied by an application fee of Rs. 100/- by way of Bank Receipt to the deposited under

  Sub MH: 60-Other services, 118 Receipts under RTI Act 2005.   
  The information sought for will then be provided on payment of requisite fees prescribed under Rule 9 (1) of the Sikkim Right To Information (Regulation of fee, cost & Mis.) Rules, 2005.
